Scholarship Description
Umea University welcomes talented and high-achieving students from outside the EU/EEA to apply for one of the multiple scholarships offered to them by the University.

Scholarships offered by Umeå University include: Umeå University Scholarship, Umeå Institute of Design Scholarship, AND Erling-Persson Scholarship.

Eligibility
The application is open for all students who are required to pay tuition.

The Umeå University Scholarship is a general scholarship programme offered by Umeå University, and it is open for students admitted to any of the Master's study programmes offered.

The Umeå Institute of Design Scholarship targets students who are admitted to their studies at Umeå Institute of Design.

The Erling-Persson Scholarship targets students admitted to Master's in Public Health study programme at Umeå University.

Selection criteria:
The selections for the scholarships are based entirely on the applicant’s academic merit.

There is no focus on the students financial background. The selected students usually are academically talented and consistently high-achieving.

Fields of study
All Masters level courses offered in English at the University. 30 Master’s level study programmes are offered in English.

Number of awards
Not specified by the University (however, note that as of September 2014, Umeå University has over 100 scholarship recipients studying full-time in various programmes.)

Sponsorship duration
The Scholarship is awarded for one year at a time and valid for the duration of the programme. It is renewed if the student performance is satisfactory.

Scholarship benefits
Selected candidates receive a FULL or PARTIAL reduction of the tuition fee.

To be eligible for selections for the scholarship, you must also have completed your admissions application at universityadmissions.se by 15 January 2015. The application form can be accessed on the official website (link to it is below).

Application for the scholarships is made via the online-form. However, you must visit the official website (link to is below) to access the application form and for detailed information on how to apply for this scholarship.

DEADLINES:
For all Scholarships offered by Umeå University, the application form is open tentatively till March 15, 2015.

The deadline to complete your study-application at universityadmissions.se is January 15 2015.

PLEASE NOTE:
Scholarships administered by Umeå University are always in the form of reduction in the tuition. Selected candidates receive full or partial reduction of tuition.

Scholarships administered by Umeå University do not cover cost of living expenses. Students are expected to cover these costs on their own.

The Swedish Migration Board requires proof of financial support, of SEK 7300 per month for the duration of the study programme, in order to grant a student residence permit.

You may apply for both the Swedish Institute scholarship AND the Umeå University Scholarships. However, should you be offered both the Swedish Institute Scholarship and the Umeå University Scholarship, the latter will be rescinded.
