Scholarship Description
MTN Foundation (MTNF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of MTN Nigeria, announces its Science and Technology Scholarships Scheme for full-time Nigerian undergraduate students.

The MTNF Scholarship Scheme is aimed at providing academic scholarships annually to a minimum of 500 students on full-time studies in accredited tertiary institutions across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.

Applications are hereby invited for the 2014/2015 academic year MTN Foundation Science and Technology Scholarships for Undergraduate students.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply:
  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education in Nigeria must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year.
  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1)
  • Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme (HND).
  • Direct entry level students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND programme and must have secured admission into 200 level/2nd year in a public University
Current Beneficiaries of the MTN Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship award are not eligible to apply.

The MTN Foundation reserves the right to cancel or suspend a scholarship award if it is discovered that the awardee provided false information.

Sponsorship duration
For the whole duration of the undergraduate degree, subject to academic performance.

MTN Foundation scholarships will be renewed for existing students provided they have maintained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or its equivalent (second class upper/upper credit).

Scholarship benefits
On an annual basis, awards are granted to each student to cover tuition, book allowances and stipend for one academic year.

Method of Application
Scholarship applicants will have to fill in an online Application Form providing Personal Details (like name, state of origin, school, matriculation number, department, CGPA, course of study, home address, GSM etc) and Other Details (like your position in your family, extracurricular activities, etc).

You will also be required to write in not more than 200 words how the Telecommunications industry has impacted positively on National development and Globalisation (Mention at least 3 areas of impact).

To open the online form and fill it, however, applicants MUST accept the Scholarship terms and conditions by clicking on the check-box beside it, as found on the official Scholarship website (link to it is below).

The following must be noted:
  • Names of successful candidates will be published in National Dailies.
  • All information provided will be verified and persons with fraudulent information will be held accountable.
  • The MTN Foundation reserves the right to cancel or suspend a scholarship award if it is discovered that an applicant /awardee provided false information. 
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted to write the aptitude test at designated locations.
DEADLINES:
The Closing date for receipt of application is Tuesday May 4th 2014

PLEASE NOTE:
Following the applications, 1500 students will be shortlisted for the assessment test to be held in 3 centres in the North, East and West of the country. The top scoring 500 candidates from the assessment test will be awarded scholarships and will receive their awards during the 2014/2015 academic year.

MTN Foundation Scholarships will also be renewed for existing students provided they have maintained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 or its equivalent (second class upper/upper credit).

New MTN Foundation scholarships will be made available to qualified and successful candidates in all states across the Federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
