Scholarship Description
The Nigeria LNG Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, launched in October 2012, is an overseas programme aimed at supporting the emergence of indigenous experts, professionals or entrepreneurs especially; but not exclusively, within the oil and gas industry.

The post graduate scholarship program is part of NLNG’s Community Development programme which aims to contribute to long-term socio-economic development in its host communities and Nigeria at large.

The Nigeria LNG Limited is pleased to call for applications from qualified candidates into the NLNG Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme for entry into Masters Programmes in the United Kingdom in September 2015. The Scheme is now currently administered by British Council Nigeria.

Eligibility
Recipients of the scholarship must:
  • be Nigerian nationals residing in Nigeria
  • be entering into a Masters Degree programme in Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Management Sciences, Medicine, Information Technology and Law
  • possess a 2nd Class Upper degree in a relevant field of study
  • have completed the National Youth Service Corp programme
  • not be more than 30 years of age
  • provide identification documents from their Local Government Area.
  • possess an international travel passport valid for at least one year after September 2015
  • provide evidence that they are available to travel in September 2015 if selected.

All leading universities in the United Kingdom.

To partake in this scholarship program, you should start taking the necessary steps to prepare for admission into a UK University, if you have not got one already.

Fields of study
A wide range of courses will be covered, including those listed below:
  1. Geosciences (Geophysics, Geology)
  2. Engineering (Petroleum Engineering, Oil and Gas Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Subsea Engineering, Chemical Engineering)
  3. Law (the various specialist areas)
  4. Medicine (the various specialist areas)
  5. Environmental Studies
  6. Management Sciences (Economics, Accountancy, Banking & Finance
  7. Information Technology
Please note that scholars will NOT be allowed to work during their studies. They will be required to concentrate on completing their studies during the specified time duration and return home. However, engaging in course related internships are encouraged during the course of study where appropriate.

For the past academic session, 10 students were supported to pursue various studies in the fields mentioned above. However, the number of awards and allocation may vary per year. Please contact the provider for specific details.

This award covers the whole duration of your one year masters studies in the UK

Scholarship benefits
The Scholarship will cover your full tuition fees and contribute a monthly stipend towards your living expenses.

Method of Application

All completed forms, along with ONE SINGLE scanned attached coloured passport photograph of the applicant should be submitted via email to nlngpgscholarship@ng.britishcouncil.org.

Please do not attach any documents to the completed application form. Only application forms accompanied by a single passport photograph will be considered.

Applications into the Nigeria LNG Post-Graduate Scholarship Scheme will be received only via email; if you do not have regular access to the internet, you can download the form onto your personal computer and email it back after you have completed it.

Only applications submitted through the above email will be considered. Exceptions will only be given to applicants with 'special needs'.

DEADLINES:
Application deadline is midnight on Friday, 21st November 2014. Applications received after this time will not be accepted.

PLEASE NOTE:
Potential beneficiaries of the programme must possess a 2nd Class Upper degree and above in their first degree in a relevant field of study; and have completed the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme.

Selection Process:
Candidates whose applications are successful will be invited to sit for a test. On the basis of the results of the test, applicants will be invited for interviews from which the final selection will be made.

Please note that only those who make it into the various stages of the selection process will be contacted.

From the applications received, a short listing exercise will hold to select applicants who will be invited to sit an aptitude test. On the basis of the results of the test, applicants will be invited for interviews from which the final selection will be made.
