Scholarship Description
International Students House (ISH) is an extraordinary place for international students who are studying in London. ISH offers a culturally diverse environment where students from all over the world come to live together, share each others' cultural experiences and enjoy the full programme of social and recreational activities that the House has to offer.
A range of Residential Scholarships are offered, they provide free accommodation at ISH for up to a year and in exceptional circumstances up to three years. All ISH scholarships are designed to give students from the developing world an opportunity to study in London and to acquire skills and training that will allow them, when they return home, to work and aid their country's development.
Eligibility
To be considered for an ISH Residential Scholarships applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be from a developing country (EXCLUDES North America, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and all countries in the European Economic Area)
- Studying at a publicly funded college/university in London (see list of publicly funded colleges/universities)
- Studying on a full time degree level course
- Applicants must be in receipt of a scholarship to meet their tuition fees.
- Students should have a good academic record
- Preference is given to people who are on one-year Masters degrees, or to students entering the final year of a PhD or Bachelors degree.
Applicants need to fulfill all the criteria below in order to have a good chance of being selected as recipients of a residential scholarship.
- Students should be from a developing or emerging country and intending to return on completion of their studies. Please see list of developing or emerging countries 2013.
- Preferences will be given to postgraduate students.
- Preference will be given to students on a course with a relevant application to developing countries.
- Students must have a good proven academic record, with every prospect of success in their study and future careers.
- Students must study at a publicly funded tertiary level educational institution in London.
- Students must study in one of our member instituitions. Please contact your university to check that they will be taking up membership for the academic year for which you are applying.
- Preference will be given to students who would otherwise be unable to study/finish their study for financial reasons.
- Except in exceptional circumstances awards will be for one year only, with no awards for repeat years of study.
- Students must have a tuition scholarship in place from their place of study, their Government or a recognised organisation.
Citizens of ALL emerging / developing countries (i.e. international students from ANY developing country)
Participating Institutions
ISH has special arrangements in place with partner institutions to take a set number of scholarship students from their courses. As part of this agreement students who are recommended directly by the university/college are considered.

Majorly for any postgraduate course(s) AND less frequently for an undergraduate course, where the university is prepared to waive the 3 years tuition fees

To apply for the residential Scholarship please print the application form, complete it and return to the Welfare Department at International Students House, 229 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PN.

PLEASE NOTE:
All scholarships are co-funded with the academic institution who provide a tuition fee waiver. ISH also co-funds with other partners such as the Chevening Programme, The Association of Commonwealth Universities, and the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.
These scholarships are available for students from the developing world who intend to return to their home country to work and aid its development with the skills and training they have acquired studying in London.
