Scholarship Description
The Lagos State Scholarship Board, LSSB, as the agency in charge of scholarship, bursary and other related matters within the state, grants scholarship awards to deserving indigenes in various tertiary institutions for full time studies in order to assist these students financially.
Application is now open for the 2015 Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Award for students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria; and also for the 2015 Lagos State Postgraduate Scholarship Award for Masters and Doctorate studies.

Undergraduate Studies:
Selection Criteria and Eligibility:
- All applicants must have gained full time admission into an accredited Nigerian tertiary Institution.
- All Under-graduate applicants:
i). Where CGPA scale is 7.0 (e.g University of Ibadan) he /she must possess a minimum of 4.6/7.0
ii). Where CGPA scale is 5.0 (e.g University of Lagos) he /she must possess a minimum of 3.5/5.0
iii). Where CGPA scale is 4.0 (e.g polytechnics and colleges of education) he /she must possess a Minimum of 3.0/4.0
iv). Where applicant is a medical student in 200L, option i, ii and iii applies
v). Where applicant is a medical student in 300L and above a minimum of Credit is required in their result - All applicants must be in their second year or above
- All applicants must have completed LASRRA Registration
- All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba
- All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective local government

- All Post-graduate applicants:

ii). Where CGPA scale is 5.0 (e.g University of Lagos) he /she must possess a minimum of 3.5/5.0
iii). Where applicant is a medical student a minimum of Credit is required in their result - All applicants must be in their first year or above
- All applicants must have completed LASRRA Registration
- All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba
- All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective local government

Scholarship benefits

Method of Application
All applicants must purchase a Scholarship application form (Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Block 5, 3rd Floor, Alausa Secretariat.
All applicants must upload clear scanned copies of all documents to ascertain the genuineness of their claims. Documents like:
- Admission Letter
- School Identity Card (undergraduate) OR Valid ID Card (postgraduate)
- Letter of identification from Oba
- Letter of identification from Local Government
- SSCE result
- Lagos State Resident Registration Agency(LASSRA) registration card
- Passport Photograph (clear background not older than three months).
- Progress report from school stating results clearly

PLEASE NOTE:
The Local Scholarship Award, offered by the Lagos state government via its State Scholarship Board, is for prospective students of Lagos State origin except otherwise directed by His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos state. The scholarship award was resuscitated in 2002. Students should be on full-time and not part-time studies to benefit from these awards.
The Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) is one of the earliest agencies established shortly after the creation of the state. It was constituted through Executive Council Memorandum No LSEC (68) as an advisory and implementation organ on Scholarship awards. The LSSB administers both the Lagos State Local and Foreign Scholarship Awards.
General conditions:
- The award is not for Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes, except where it is a direct component of the Masters programme.
- Prospective awardees for Post-Graduate programmes must have proven academic abilities attested to by their performance in the first degree.
- Propective awardees must have secured admission into a Nigerian tertiary institution before applying for the Scholarship award.
